WHY WOMEN?

Throughout history, women’s accomplishments have been remarkable. Recognition, however, of those very accomplishments has been less than remarkable. History shows women’s accomplishments have been delayed, ignored, underrated, erased, and even stolen.  And this continues to happen today!

Living Her Legacy’s (LHL) movement is to inspire girls and young women of today and the future by recognizing the accomplishments of forty-eight women with ties to Northern Colorado with a beautiful, high visibility permanent, public, outdoor, historic art / education exhibit featuring their portraits and educational programming specifically designed for students of all ages.

Community Role Models are often overlooked. Our goal is to celebrate and recognize these ordinary women for their innate willingness to follow their passions and ultimately, unbeknownst to them, they each created an extraordinary legacy.

Our hope is that this project will engage critical thinking and discussion about how we can each follow our dreams and passions so in the fullness of time make a difference, as well as add value to our communities.

Harriet Tubman, quote LHL

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

-Harriet Tubman

The purpose of this art/education exhibit is to educate our community about the contributions of womens' impact in our community.   We also are sharing our Legacy Honorees' impact to inspire women and girls in their own innate potential and possibility as they learn from these courageous women. The art/education exhibit will benefit the community greatly by adding to Fort Collins' identity as a cultural center and tourist destination.
