WHY WOMEN?

Recognizing women’s accomplishments sends a clear message to the community-that the contributions of the forty-eight Living Her Legacy Honorees matter.  Who are these women?  What are their stories?  What did they accomplish?  Those are the conversations we hope to start, and questions we hope to answer.

art installation - Old Town Square Fort Collins - LHL

Located in the heart of Old Town Square Fort Collins, Colorado are permanent portraits of forty-eight courageous, resilient, and committed women, Living Her Legacy Honorees, add to the culture of our local community for residents and visitors alike.  This colorful, eye-catching and highly visible exhibit is a free, outdoor, permanent, year-round venue to enjoy.

Twenty-two of the forty-eight Legacy Honorees have ties to Colorado State University (CSU) and Colorado Agriculture College (CAC).  Eight of the forty-eight Honorees are “Women of Firsts.”

Living Her Legacy is affirming that their contributions matter and we are pleased to be part of a focused mission to increase gender parity in monuments, symbols and icons of the United States.
